It has been decided that the premier of "Óþelló, Desdemóna og Jagó" will be on the wednesday 30th of January at 20:00 on the small stage at Borgarleikhúsið.  The production is a co-operation between the Dream Workshop, Leikfélag Reykjavíkur and the Íslenski dansflokkurinn, adapted to the stage by Gunnar Gunnsteinsson, which also directs it, and is based on Shakespeare's Othello.

There are only three parts in the play and each has it's own form of expression, the part of Othello is played by the dancer Brad Sykes, the part of Desdemóna is played by deaf actress Elsa Guðbjörg Björnsdóttir, who expresses herself with sign language and the part of Jagó is played be actor Hilmir Snær Guðnason who speaks his parts in Icelandic.  Three different forms of expression are mixed together and either stand alone or are intertwined to play out this dramatic literature masterpiece.  The production is first and foremost visual with the artist Vignir Jóhannsson designing the backdrop, María Ólafsdóttir designing the costumes and Björn Bergsteinn Guðmundsson designing the lightning.  Music will also play a big part and it is Rúnar Þórisson who both composes and plays the music during the shows.  Ástrós Gunnardóttir is the choreographer and in charge of stage movemnts.  It is safe to say that this production is quite unusual and focused on audience experience.

Rehearsals have started for "Othello, Desdemona and Jago".  Rehearsals will be scattered to begin with, but the opening night will be on the 19th of January 2008.  The show is a cooperation between The Dream Workshop, The Reykjavik City Theater and The Iceland Dance Company.

One of the more famous piece of theater literature is used as a foundation for a travel through communication, expression and language.  The adaptation mirrors different forms of expression we use, and how we as human being communicate in different ways.  The story is told by a dancer in the role of Othello, actor in the role of Jago and a deaf actress in the role of Desdemona.

Rehearsals have started on the Poem program, the theme this time is Patriotic Poems and the opening is scheduled at the end of February.  Further details will come later.  

Rehearsals have also started for "Men are from Mars and women are from Venus" and the opening is scheduled around the middle of Mars.  

The Dream Workshop would like to wish everyone happy new year and thank for the past year.  The year ahead is exciting, with lots of promise, many interesting projects are coming up and the Dream Workshop will flourish this year.  As we should, since we have numerous things in the pipelines and it will be exciting to see what will be the biggest this year.

Last year "The Interview" and the Theater festival were without a doubt our biggest projects and this year we will be just as active.  We thank everyone that helped us and worked with us last year wholeheartedly and we hope that the new year will be good for those artists and that our paths will cross again in the new year, one way or another, home or abroad.
